During our family prayer time this evening Cole thanked the Lord for giving us the technology we needed to skype daddy from where we are in Sanibel to where he is in China. It's below freezing and snowing in Louyang, China and a world apart we find the weather finally sunny and warm in Sanibel Florida where we are staying with some dear friends.
Despite the fact that we don't like being apart as a family, the last few days have been great on both sides of skype. And we thank the Lord for his grace! On our side, Cole learned how to ride a bike. After only two days, Cole became so proficient in riding that he went on a full one hour bike ride with the group and loved every minute of it. He says that he thinks he was foolish to have been so afraid to try before now. I think that it all worked together for good, because when he did finally set his mind to it (two days ago), he was already so strong that it took very little to advance quickly. And little Maya has learned to swim without any flotation devices....what big milestones the Hasenbalg kids have reached in recent days. And Maya has made a few new pet friends, including a Guinea Pig named Timmy. See pictures below.
As for Scott, well, I really encourage you to take a quick read of the Show Hope blog where he describes the amazing things God is doing through the medical "dream team" currently at Maria's Big House of Hope. He will be updating it daily, so perhaps you will join me in not only reading but praying for this wonderful group of Doctors setting up the Operating Room at MBHOH. Link: show Hope Blog
Kerry,
I'm so glad ya'll are visiting friends while Scott is away. Sanibel looks lovely. I'm so proud of Cole and Maya overcoming their trepidations and realizing their goals. Big life lessons there, right?
Isn't it wonderful how God in His omnipresence can "connect the dots" all around the world from Sanibel to China (to NC) to everywhere else? He is awesome!
